Editorial policy
How we maintain independence and accuracy
This page sets out how Broker Verdict makes editorial decisions, handles commercial relationships, and corrects errors.
Editorial independence
Broker Verdict’s editorial content — including broker ratings, regulatory findings, and platform assessments — is produced independently of any commercial arrangement with the brokers we cover. Affiliate commissions do not determine which brokers appear on our site, in what order, or with what conclusions.
Our recommended broker (currently Exness) is the one our team believes offers the strongest combination of regulatory standing, platform range and operating history for South African traders. It is not the one paying the highest commission.
Commercial relationships
Broker Verdict operates an affiliate programme: we earn a commission when a reader opens an account with a broker through a link on our site. We are transparent about this in the following ways:
- Every page containing an affiliate link includes a visible disclosure and links to this editorial policy and our affiliate disclosure.
- Affiliate links carry
rel="sponsored"markup so they’re identifiable by search engines and assistive technologies. - We review brokers we don’t have affiliate relationships with, and we report honestly on brokers we do — including flagging regulatory gaps, unconfirmed licence details, and other issues regardless of commercial relationship.
What we will and won’t accept
We will accept
- Factual corrections from brokers or their representatives, accompanied by supporting documentation.
- Regulatory update notifications when a licence status changes.
- Press releases and factual product information, which we may use as a research input but do not publish unedited.
We will not accept
- Payment to change, soften or remove editorial conclusions.
- Guest posts, sponsored content, or paid reviews of any kind.
- Requests to omit factually accurate negative findings.
Accuracy and corrections
We make every effort to ensure the regulatory and factual information we publish is accurate. Where we discover an error, we correct it promptly and note the correction on the affected page. Our standard for broker regulatory information is as follows:
- Green “confirmed” treatment: FSP number and/or entity name verified from primary sources (FSCA register, first-party broker material, or client-supplied and independently corroborated).
- Gold “pending” treatment: A number or entity name has been identified from a credible source but not yet independently checked against the FSCA register.
- No-licence-found treatment: Genuine research turned up no evidence of an FSCA licence; stated plainly, not softened.
To flag an error, email info@brokerverdict.co.za with the page URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect.
Content attribution and authorship
